Doesn’t have a point of view, knows not where he’s going to. Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
   — John Lennon and Paul McCartney

Where would we be without people who think?

People who do and say things that weren’t borrowed from the latest fad.

People whose ideas for vacation include something other than buying trinkets, eating out, and lying on the beach.

People who give other answers to these questions (assuming that they apply) than, “That’s how I was raised,” “Because everyone else does,” or “It just kind of happened”:

In fact, it’s possible to alienate lots of non-thinking people just by asking a question like one of these.

Now, I don’t expect anyone to give the same reasons I would give for living life the way I do, but I do expect them to have their own reasons. That’s why many of my best friends are people who don’t agree with me on much, but who know why they think and act the way they do, and who don’t mind hearing my reasons.

Trouble is, people who don’t think never really communicate with anyone around them. Sure, they talk and people hear them, but most of the time no one is listening. And no one is listening because they just repeat the same things over and over…without even thinking.
